Rainy days

There have been quite a few nice days so far this spring and the girls have fallen in love with playing outside. They go out multiple times a day and can't get enough of playing on their new playground and watching Riley run around (Riley is pretty happy with all the outside time too). Unfortunately, spring in Minnesota is full of a lot more than warm weather. And explaining that to a 15-month old is not easy. We struggled through the last few days, trying to find good rainy day activities.

Emma and Ellie emptied the cupboards for me; they are very helpful little people.

The girls discovered a great new way to play peek-a-boo...They are both behind the drapes in this picture. The would "hide" behind the drapes, giggling like crazy and then pop out with big grins on their faces.

In desperation this morning, I even cut apart two boxes, taped them together and cut a door. It was a hit for about 15 or 20 minutes...

But the girls still spent a significant amount of time looking out the window. It was kind of sad.

Finally, this afternoon the sun came out a little and we got to go outside. The girls were so happy when I got their coats out that they didn't even mind that we also had to wear winter hats. Ellie even allowed me to get a picture of her with at least a little smile.

I wonder if Emma and Ellie think it is weird that last week they were wearing shorts?

I think it's weird ... and annoying. Tonight, I found Laila in my closet. She said: "Mommy, is it okay if I lay out your outfit for tomorrow?" You know what I had to say? "I need to see what the weather will be first."
