Andy is building another deck. He built one at our first house, in Eagan. And now he is tackling the project again at our new house. In order to get this one built, he first had to tear an odd little room off the back of the house and remove a 20 by 25 foot slab of very thick concrete. The result is the large area of dirt and small chunks of concrete that you see above.
Emma and Ellie have been hard at work ever since. They seem to believe that it is their job to clean this area up. They have spent the last few evenings finding the bigger pieces of concrete and dirt and picking them up.
This seems to bring them inexplicable happiness.
Once they have choosen a good piece of dirt, they carefully walk it over to the wheelbarrow and deposit it there.
It is a big job, cleaning up all this dirt. Andy better get it covered up with a deck soon or they might lose heart.
