We have gotten to know our new neighborhood pretty well. The grocery store is only about a block away. This is very important because we have to carry home everything we buy! It only takes me 15 minutes to walk to the hospital; this is also very important because I have appointments 2 or 3 times a week and after the baby is born, we will be heading there daily.
The girls are doing really well. The first few days, I think they were really confused. They asked to "go home" a few times and often said they wanted to go downstairs. Emma doesn't seem to like all the walking we do here, because our first few days here she asked for "Momma's car" every time we went outside! But lately, she hasn't been saying that and instead of wanting to go downstairs, the girls ask to go to the playroom. The building has a HUGE playroom for kids which is awesome. We have spent a lot of time there!
When we first arrived the weather was wonderful. So we spent the first few days playing outside and walking around. We have found a couple of parks close by and a nice area to walk near a little creek. The girls love walking there, looking at the geese and collecting acorns and their "hats".
By the end of the weekend, though, it started to get colder. On Sunday, we ventured out a little and took the T to downtown Boston. We walked around Faneuil Hall and ate dinner. The girls loved the T and walking around the markets.
While it stayed cold, we spent more time inside playing. The playroom has been such a help; the girls love it in there. It is almost as big as our whole apartment and full of toys and books. They both say it is their favorite part of Boston. We walk through the courtyard to get there and that is full of fun, too.
Ellie has been having a lot of fun in the playhouse "talking" to Max on the phone.
Thursday the sun came out again and we took advantage by touring Fenway Park, which is only a couple blocks from our apartment. It was so neat! I would LOVE to make it to a game, but we'll have to see; it is a pretty tough ticket to get.
Unfortunately, the cold has returned. I walked to my appointment this morning in a snow storm! We took the girls to the Children's Museum today and it was great! I think we will be spending a lot of cold and rainy days there. Emma especially loved the Curious George exhibit.

So, Boston has been good to us so far. We are hoping for warmer weather soon, so we can see more of the city without freezing. Baby Meschke is likely to be born in the next 1-2 weeks (we'll know more next Friday) and then we won't have much time for touring anything other than the hospital!
And Ellie loved sitting in the bobcat...It may not look like it in this picture but she waited in line a long time for her turn and was really proud to drive it. You'll have to take my word for it!
