A Rite of Passage

Emma and Ellie started preschool this week. The are going to Small Wonders preschool in Lakeville 3 mornings a week.  They have been so excited for the last few weeks and it has been so cute to listen to them talk about being "preschoolers".  I have been a little sad - my babies are starting school, even if it is  only preschool.  I almost can't believe it.  I know they are ready and will love going to school - they are so proud; it is adorable.  But it is so weird that for 7 1/2 hours each week, I don't really know what they are doing.

Last week they went with Andy to meet their teacher and came back excited but also a little unsure if they really wanted to go, without mom, dad and Jacob.

I was not surprised by the worry - after all, they do come from a long line of professional worriers!

We had a crazy morning (Jacob's early intervention teacher was coming over before preschool started), so we went outside quickly after breakfast to take some pictures.

When I picked them up, they were tired!  And a little cranky.  But Emma did tell me as we walked to the car, "I behaved Mom!".  Excellent work, Emma.

After a nap, they were more pleasant.  They made "I am Special" crowns on their first day and were happy to model them for me.
Well, Emma was happy to model hers at least.  Ellie actually looks less than thrilled with me.  Oh well.
