On Sunday, September 22nd at 640 AM, our family was lucky enough to gain a new member, when Harriet Francis Hayes was born. Not surprisingly, she came right on time. Her mom also came right on time (and has been ever since), so even though we were hoping she would be a little early, the on time arrival makes sense!
Little Hattie weighed 7 lbs 6 oz and is completely adorable.
We were able to visit them in the hospital, which was so fun.
Jacob was very happy to meet Hattie and loved holding her. But when he first learned of her arrival, he wasn't quite as pleased. When I put my kids to bed Saturday night, I knew Claire was going to the hospital, and told the kids that she was probably going to have the baby. In the morning, when I got the news that it was a girl, I shouted out happily, "Auntie Claire had a girl!!" Jacob heard this while in his room getting dressed and immediately yelled, "no, not a girl" and started to cry. Loudly. Poor guy thinks he needs more boys in his life. He seems to have forgotten this now, though. I think he likes his new cousin.
(Ellie was present at our meeting of Hattie, but was a little unsure of the whole hospital experience. She proudly picked out a gift for the baby and carried it into the room, but that was all she would do. Hopefully, she will snuggle Hattie at her next meeting!)
