Happy Birthday, Jacob!

Two years ago yesterday, Jacob was born at 130 PM at Brigham and Women's Hospital. I only saw him for about 30 seconds before he was quickly taken over to Boston's Children's Hospital. But I loved him with every part of me in those 30 seconds. He was adorable and tiny; the first thing I heard after he was born was his wonderful cry and then Andy saying, "he is beautiful". And he was...

His little life has been full of ups and downs, but at this point, I can honestly say, I wouldn't change any of it. He is a delightful little boy, so smiley and good-natured. He loves tools, trucks and his Daddy. His heart has been doing great and he will likely start growth hormone soon to help him grow and increase his muscle mass and strength. He seems to be on track developmentally. Speech has been the hardest area for him, but with the help of speech therapy twice weekly and his mother constantly bugging him, he is also doing great in that area. This week, he was hospitalized overnight due to dehydration from the stomach flu. It was a reminder to us that he does have special health needs, as the severity of his flu wouldn't have caused most people as much trouble as it caused Jacob. But he came through it okay, and was soon back to his happy, little self.

He has changed so much in the last year. Isn't it amazing how much can happen in 1 year?

We had a party for him yesterday and I think he loved it. He picked out his cake and was quite certain he wanted an "Elmo bo" cake. So that is what he got!

He got a lot of nice gifts and liked opening them, although between his sisters and cousin, it is amazing that he got to open any of them!

He got this nice tool bench from his MeMe, a water table from Grandma and Papa, a truck and cars/ramp from his aunts and uncles, and a bulldozer riding toy from Mama and Dada. Emma gave him a little truck and Ellie picked out an Elmo phone for him. Pretty lucky little boy!

Happy Birthday, Jacob! We are so glad you were born and we can't imagine our lives without you!
