Opening weekend at the cabin

We went to the cabin this weekend, for our first weekend up there this year. The entire gang was there, which always makes for a lot of chaos and fun. The weather was cool and a little rainy, but that was okay. The cabins were just opened for the year, so we had stuff to do to get things ready for summer.

After dinner on Saturday night, Helen and Grandpa made a fire. It was raining off and on, but that didn't stop everyone from sitting outside to enjoy their fire. We even got the marshmallows out, because, why not?

It didn't take long and all the kids were in the lake - less then 50 degrees and rainy but we couldn't keep them out of there!

Their fingers and toes were freezing, but they didn't seem to care at all. Ellie even took off her shirt at one point - apparently, sitting by the fire makes you too hot after wading in a freezing lake!

We are looking forward to a lot of fun weekends up north this summer. Hopefully, most will have better weather than this first one, but even on those crummy weather days, I know we will all be out there, enjoying it!
